Resolution on digitising books

The Executive Committee of the European Council of Artists (ECA), meeting at IGBK in Berlin 7 September, resolve to partner the European Writers' Council in their request to protect European artists' author's rights interests threatened by globalised agreements as the one Google is trying to force in the USA.

The ECA, which represents the interests of over 200.000 artists in 26 European countries, will be pressuring the EU authorities to resist any detrimental agreements infringing on the established rights of creative artists.

The ECA considers this campaign of vital importance and of utter urgency, and is prepared to join any like-minded societies in the fight against such multi-national exploitation.
