Dear Colleagues,
With horror and disbelieve we have witnessed the acts of terrorism that were committed yesterday in Madrid. The European Council of Artists, which gathers the artists, authors and performers of 25 European countries, hereby expresses our deepest concerns for the victims of the terrorist bombs.
We have been informed that the Union of Actors of Madrid subsequently has received anonymous threats that relate the opposition to the war in Iraq to terrorism.
We reject these attempts to impede the freedom of expression and to create fear in the democratic society of Spain.
