ECA has sent the following statement to the European Parliament:

The European Council of Artists, representing artists' organisations in 25 European countries, welcomes the decision of the European Parliament to adopt the Gibault Report on The Social Status of Artists as a significant step towards a recognition of the difficult socio-economic situation of many European artists. This report will be the focus of the ECA's annual conference which will be held in Sibiu, Romania, in September 2007, and of a subsequent ECA position paper on the findings and proposals of the study.
